The Competition

The EUROAVIA Ideathon 2026, hosted by AS Oostende, takes place in Brugge, Belgium, from November 3–8, 2026. It’s an innovation-driven hackathon-style competition where teams tackle four real-world industrial challenges set by leading aerospace companies, with solutions evaluated by a jury of industry and academic experts.

Eligibility & Teams

Open to bachelor’s and master’s students (18+) enrolled at a university at the time of application. Teams must have 3–5 members, with one designated Team Leader as the sole point of contact. Teams can add members up to 5 (subject to approval) but cannot shrink below their registered size; dropouts must be replaced, with a cap of 1 replacement for 3-person teams and 2 for 4–5-person teams. Individual applicants will be grouped into teams, though team applications are prioritized. The official event language is English.

Format

A “Bring Your Own Device” event: participants bring their own laptops. Four challenges are tackled across the week, kept confidential until the morning of November 4th to keep things fair. A Cultural Night on November 6th invites participants to share food and traditions from home.

Application Fees

Personal participation fee (per person), with two tiers:

  • With accommodation: covers participation, 5 nights’ shared accommodation, all meals during the competition, and event transportation.
  • Without accommodation: covers participation and competition meals, but not accommodation or daily commuting.

Travel to Belgium and personal expenses aren’t included in either tier. No refunds once payment is complete, and participants are responsible for their own health/travel insurance.
